Almost every dolphin boat in Mallorca leaves from the north coast. Palma Cruises is the exception, and for anyone staying in Palma, Magaluf, Palmanova or along the Playa de Palma it removes an hour's drive at dawn from the equation.

Departures leave the Muelle de las Golondrinas on Palma's Paseo Marítimo at 10:30 and 14:00. The trip runs just under four hours: down the coast first, then out into open water where the operator's crews know the ground, and finally into a cove for a swim before turning back.

A civilised start time is the other thing it offers. It is the only listing here with no pre-dawn departure at all, which matters more on a family holiday than it sounds.

Optional transport can be added at extra cost from Maioris, El Arenal, Playa de Palma, Can Pastilla and the Calvià resorts — Magaluf, Palmanova, Son Caliu, Portals Nous, Illetes, Génova and Cala Major. You pick the pickup point during booking. There is a bar on board, and snorkel gear is available against a twenty-euro deposit.
